Amhrán Oích’ Mhaith

Tá tráth goil taigh
as goil do laigh;
Tá’n stóil fúm ‘greannach’ mé romham.
Sin comhartha dúinn
do ghluaiseach’,
‘tá ‘tairraing’ dos tráth na leabach.

Mo ghillean mhaith’,
séan dúinn goil taigh.
Tá’n dubhad ‘teat ar a’ teallach,
tá ‘g éigneach’ sinn
do ghoil do laigh;
tá bunús tráth do ghrá oích’ mhaith.

Goodnight Song

It’s time to go home
and go to rest;
my chair is urging me to rise.
This is a sign to us
to move
drawing us toward our beds.

My good lads,
it’s an omen to us to go home.
The darkness is falling on the hearth,
telling us
to go to rest;
it’s nearly time to say good night.
