Learned from the
singing of Emile & Marcelle Pessel of Plouhinec, Brittany, who were
recorded live at a fest-noz (traditional Breton evening of music and
dance) in 1961. It is sung as a conversation: a boy is outside a girl's
window entreating her to come gather hazelnuts. They debate the issue,
but in the end she decides to stay inside and pray for his soul. We
acquired this song by ear (in the true oral tradition!) and are still
seeking the lyrics and full translation.
